can i put a OS in another harddrive then have 2 OS?then will my old OS work if i take the other harddrive out?

I actually have the same thing; My old IDE has a lot of stuff on it I want to save but when I hook it up with a SATA converter, the computer won’t boot. If you found an answer please let me know.

My master harddrive is a SATA but I have an extra IDE hard drive. Can I make it work?

hmm…I tried this…went to what is now”local disk D” went to format and it says its 31.7 GB “giving me the size of the master HDD” and my new #2 HDD is a 320 GB …..so ya…im confused

no, if you formatted your master drive, then all the data would be erased(including windows) so that would be a bad idea.

i want to use a new IDE HDD as the master, and the old SATA DD that i already have as the slave….i installed the new one, but i think i did something wrong (or there’s somethin i didn’t do, cuz the windows xp won’t load….anyone know what i did or didn’t do?!
